Tick tock european bakery-cafe - mittagong

Tick Tock is owned and operated by Lyndall and Jane.

Lyndall is much loved in the Mittagong area.  She is of German heritage and has a long history in the bakery business, having been an owner of the famous Braidwood Bakery with her late Dutch baker husband.  She moved from Braidwood in the late 1990s and founded Tick Tock.

Jane is a newcomer to the bakery-cafe industry and saw an opportunity of becoming Lyndall’s partner in 2009.  She spent several years in France and has also been influenced by northern European cuisine and ways of life.

Our staff

Our bakery staff truly excel.  While Ian spent many years apprenticed to a master pastry cook, learning the traditional methods and special recipes handed down over centuries, Richard was trained in Switzerland.  Both Ian and Richard take considerable pride in their tasks and we know you will agree they produce excellent and consistent pastries, breads and dishes.

Our front of house staff are friendly and welcoming and do their utmost to give our customers the best service they can.

What we offer to customers

Along with traditional cafe fare, we offer our customers European favourites such as Beinenstiche (“Bee Sting”), Streuselkuchen, apple and cherry strudels as well as black rye bread, Swiss grain loaf and sourdough breads and buns, prepared on the premises.

Our baristas have been trained by the current Australian barista champion and we are frequently complemented on the quality of our coffee by the coffee connoisseurs amongst you.

So, come in and feel at home with our friendly staff and pleasant European cafe style music.  Locals walking their dogs will also find a bowl of water ready for their four legged companions while they sip their coffee and chat with friends or read the daily newspapers that we provide for our customers.

We also provide catering services and you can also book our cafe for special events and celebrations (we seat 80 inside and outside).

European National Days

It is Lyndall and Jane’s ultimate aim to bring Europe to the Southern Highlands with the celebration of select European National Days when they occur.  During 2010, Tick Tock has celebrated Estonia and Greece with specialised cuisine from those areas as well as music and displays from those communities.

If you would like your European heritage celebrated, or simply want to experience a part of Europe without having to go there, come and see us to talk over how we could celebrate your national day!

Lyndall and Jane welcome you to our bakery-cafe at 112 Main Street Mittagong.  We are open 7 days a week, from 7am to 5pm; we also provide catering for functions within the shop or at your venue.  Call us for bookings or enquiries:  4872 4672
